About the Artist

Originally from Fort Worth, C.P. Vaughn is an artist whose works are powerfully expressive displays of draftsmanship. Going beyond 'photorealism,' they capture the life force of the subject with strength and sensitivity.

Formerly a successful graphic designer, C.P. moved from Houston to Austin in 1978 to open a gallery/studio. A chance meeting there with Willie Nelson was the genesis of his series of 'Lone Star Legends' lithographs of celebrated Texans and Texana.

Collectors of C.P.'s works include Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker and the late Slim Pickens. His portrait of famed author James A. Michener for the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania was described by museum director Bruce Katsiff as 'the icon of the exhibit.'

C.P. also designed the cover artwork for Grammy-nominated 'Poet', the Townes Van Zandt tribute CD featuring Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Nanci Griffith, John Prine, Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle, among others.
